Week 12: Group Presentations

PRESENTATION DAY

Before Zoom and presentation

At 12:30pm everyone in the group arrived at Fale with their remaining layers of designed pizza boxes and carefully stacked the layers on the brick foundation. Not all of the layers were finished due to the lack of a material, so we decided to leave our creative component as a draft for now and just do what we can to use for our presentation, including the website because the creative component determines how this website will turn out.













During the presentation, our group received positive feedback. The only thing we had to think about was the name. 'The Weight of Whakapapa'. In my definition of 'weight' is 'privilege' and 'responsibilities'. In my te ao Māori perspective, we have a responsibility to restore our culture, it is the 'weight' we don't mind baring to carry for the sake of our ancestors who worked hard to uphold our culture for the next generations to remember. So, we are reflecting on the events or moments of the past of which made us who we are as a person, which I think is another way to say that it's whakapapa. But I didn't think about what it means from a western point of view. According to the lecturer, in the western definition of 'weight' is 'fat' or 'burden'. Which gives it a negative impact. And because of that suggestion we decided to change the name, instead of keeping it.

Created a list of things to do:
  • Renaming the website to Whakapapa - Acknowledging All
  • Rearrange some layers
  • taking the photo (Iphone) and send it to Micah to edit on Photoshop
  • change the colours on the descriptions
  • Rearrange and update some descriptions
  • Write a description about what whakapapa is and to help viewers with what to comment

  • Meet Nesi at fale at 10am on the 25th
